Verse
He waited seven days, the time set by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and Saul’s men began to scatter.
Devotional
Saul about to go into battle, did not wait until the time that the prophet Samuel had set according God. Saul was impatient and therefore lost his position. When you and I choose to get what we want according to our schedule instead of God's, we're going to make horrible messes of our lives. If you learn to obey God and wait on Him, you won't have to be afraid of losing anything the Lord has planned for you.

But Samuel replied: Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
Devotional
We show God we love Him by obedience. Jesus said, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching". Gods Word clearly states, "This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands. This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome…" (1 John. 5:3)
